Netspeed is a setting which tells the server how much data you want to transfer each second. Some people on lower-speed connections lower the netspeed to get better ping since they cannot transfer alot of data at any given time. However, having a certain netspeed can disable flash effects, so some servers will run a Punkbuster check to make sure its within a given range. Most people who are kicked don't even know this because the game dynamically tries to get the best netspeed for your connection. We basically want to keep your netspeed between 2700 and 20,000. Here's how to do that:

1. Open your game.
2. Click
   Settings
   , then click
   Game
   at the top.
3. Uncheck
   the box that says
   Dynamic Netspeed
   .
4. Select your internet speed in the above pull-down menu.

That should set your netspeed to 10000 or 20000, which both are common for broadband connections. If you want to set it manually, press to bring up your console, and type . 10000 is a common speed for cable/dsl users, while 20000 is used on T1/LAN's. If your game was automatically setting your netspeed to 2600, it may not be a bad idea to set it to 2700 (dialup?). This is an old game so today's connections are pretty fast by comparison, I personally use a netspeed of 20000. It'll be saved and you'll be good to go from there.

Some servers periodaclly take PunkBuster Screenshots of what is on a player's screen, which is often later reviewed by an admin to make sure it is free of wallhacks, fog hacks, and other visuals. Sometimes PBSS are returned black, usually due to one of two reasons:

• PBSS Blocker
• Corrupt settings

So if you're a cheater you don't want people to see your cheats, so often they are intentionally blocked. On the other hand, black PBSS is a common bug in the game which can happen due to faulty settings (usually with nVidia graphics). If you're not a cheater, and don't mind having random PBSS's to help keep the server clean, here is how to fix your PBSS:

1. Click
   Start
   ,
   Run
   , and enter
   regedit
   .
2. At the top, click
   Edit
   , and select
   Find
   . (Or press CTRL + F)
3. Paste
   this in and select
   Find
   :
   _armyops.exe:D3DOGL_67207556
4. Right-click
   on the entry and select
   Delete.
5. Search for
   _armyops.exe:D3DOGL_67207556
   for a second time, and delete that entry as well.

If you'd like to verify that your PBSS are working follow these steps:

1. Open your game and join any Punkbuster-enabled server.
2. Press
   ~
   to bring up your console, and type
   pb_getss
   .
3. Exit
   your game, and go to
   Start
   and select
   Run
   .
4. Paste in
   %APPDATA%\25Assist\armyops\System\pb\scrnshot\
   ^[1] and click
   OK
   .

Your PBSS you just took will be in there.
